Reading Counts assignments aren't due until January 14th.  Just think of how much more reading you will do this 6 weeks.  Big Readers will need to read 30,000 words to qualify.
Remember to take notes as you read.
Have a parent sign your calendar each week.  Remember a signature on a blank calendar doesn't show me much or shows me that you read nothing, which can't possibly be true.

The Sight Word Spelling Test will be Wednesday 12/8.

Dear Parents,
As you have probably notices, we write in our journals each day, practice spelling each day with a quiz each Friday.  Now that we are passed the assessment phase, we have moved on to writing workshop on Mondays and Wednesday and reading workshop and literature study on Tuesdays and Thursday.  On Friday we wrap up loose ends and have Sustained Silent Reading for Reading Counts.

We have started reading Seventh-Grade Weirdo by Lee Wardlaw in class on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  This is a book written at a 610 Lexile level so it is very accessible to most middle school students.  This novel will be used to introduced annotating skills, which is why you were asked to purchase the book.
